A Dance Of Realities.

We live on a moment-by-moment basis, where conscious awareness bounces through temptation between both past and future.

Right now, as you're reading this, your conscious, active awareness (let’s call it "focus") is trained on the words that are coming off of the screen through the LED lights hidden underneath. What you read then creates an image in your mind’s eye, allowing you to see beyond the scene that is presented before you.

We perceive our world through intangibles, all within a tangible reality; constantly being directed by our focus. What the mind focuses on makes up the intangible reality amidst what the body experiences as being tangible.

Confusion, stress, anxiety; all of these feelings arise when these two realities are out of sync.

While reading this, you may start to think of what you have to do next. As I write this, I, too, can feel the other tasks that I must accomplish before the end of my day. These are intangibles. Pushing these intangible, future realities aside, we can reside in the reality of what’s before us — the present moment. A union between the tangible (body) and the intangible (mind) will ultimately quell the storm of your dissociation.

Now, that isn’t to say that separating these two realities should never be done. As humans, it is our greatest gift to be able to anticipate and reflect. It is where "knowledge" and "creation" come from. It is what has allowed us to get to where we are today via human ingenuity and perseverance. However, just know that this separation of the body and mind is a tool — the mind is a conductor which works best when in conjunction with the body in order to manifest our conscious (and subconscious) desires.

Supposing one reality may be more important than the other is like throwing the baby out with the bath water. Both are necessary "goods" and "evils". It is only when we rely too much on one that an imbalance and, ultimately, suffering can occur.

In the end, all there is left to do is to understand that we have two realities before us; realizing that each works best when both balanced and imbalanced. This is the paradox of living. The yin and the yang. The ha and the tha. The good and the bad. The right and the wrong. Our nature and our spirit. Each one in an active interplay amidst the ever-changing medium that we call “Life”.
