EMO LIVES!—in Bird Problems...
If you’re a post-hardcore fan like me, you’ll know that there’s been a bit of a decline on the scene as of late—with most bands opting to go in a more poppier or lighter sounding direction. Where’s the passion? Where’s the emotion? Where’s the woke-lyrics? Where’s the drive? Where are the ironic names, clothing and skinny jeans?!
With bands like Saosin, Blessthefall, Escape The Fate, Chiodos, and Underoath (just to name a few) taking on a different, more “mature” sounding tone, a classic emo kid like myself is hard-pressed to find the same kind of angst and attitude that the post-hardcore scene once had. Enter: Bird Problems*.
Taking on creative inspirations from classic bands, this band is what I’d consider to be the “budding” Kendrick Lamar of post-hardcore. Keeping strong to the roots of what once was, they carry the ethos and essence of what the genre once was on their backs. But, just like the old Kendrick compared to the new Kendrick, they still have to build out their discography in order to cement themselves alongside the genre’s greats! I personally can’t wait to hear what music they’ll create in the future!
